HOW TO PREP SMALL CHILDREN
I absolutely love capturing kids having fun and showing their personalities, so please do not feel that you need to “tame” your kids for our session! I often find that those fun candid images end up being parents favorites!
Nevertheless, it is always a good idea to come prepared for a session with kids. Here are a few tips I always recommend!
- Schedule session around nap times when possible so that kids are well rested
- No hangry family members (that includes parents too!)
- Bring water and snacks
- Bring a comfort item
- Talk to your kids about the photoshoot ahead of time. Get them excited!
- Stay positive the day of the session
- If you child is prone to messes or diaper blowouts, consider packing a second photo worthy outfit as a backup just in case
- Just keep smiling and we will make it fun!
WHAT TO WEAR
While I want you and your family to wear clothing that represents your personalities and what brings you joy, I do have a few tips to keep in mind when picking out outfits for your upcoming session:
- Compliment, don’t match. Don’t use the exact same outfits.
- Choose textures over patterns.
- Love prints? Try to choose not more than one outfit with a subtle pattern.
- Avoid bright colors, text, and striking prints
- Take care of your hands and nails
- Always use nude undergarments when wearing lighter colors
